InterTest Electrical Engineer

Job Summary

This role is responsible for executing projects in product development and product support for remote visual inspection and non-destructive testing products. This person is expected to generate engineering solutions and prioritize projects in a dynamic environment so that customer specifications and deadlines are met.

A qualified candidate would possess a minimum of 3 years of experience in the design of electromechanical devices, embedded design with emphasis on video imaging and transport, motor (PWM DC and Stepper) and light (linear and PWM) control. In this position the candidate will be responsible for being the electrical design lead for both existing and future remote visual and non-destructive systems. In addition the candidate must have experience with working in a team environment, creating and developing requirements from Customer specifications from concept to completion.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Work within a team environment to analyze Customer needs and requirements and propose solutions and determine project direction
  • Research and develop new products / services related to video imaging
  • Create design specifications and document hardware and software interfaces
  • Prove-out concepts through rapid prototyping
  • Work with PCB designer to produce PCB and documentation package
  • Coordinate the design, assembly and testing/debug of hardware prototypes
  • Possess knowledge and understanding of basic soldering practices and principles. Direct soldering experience considered a plus.
  • Develop system architecture(s) for future growth and expandability
  • Provide cost estimates based on Customer requirements and available time / resources


  • BSEE (or related discipline)
  • In depth experience in the design of circuit boards containing micro-controllers, interface / communication circuitry, motor control, light control, and video imaging / processing
  • Must have knowledge in the design, development and testing of software (MPLAB IDE, LabView, etc.)
